I've made a horrible mistake

Image
I finally caught that dice bug ๐Ÿ›.  I thought i could live with just one dice set, but as the story goes Kalina wanted some nature inspired dice. I order a set of 7 dice for around $10 from temu and completely regretting it. It's hard to tell the dice apart. They are so shiny, it's hard to read the number and they seem dangerous.  Likely to poke a small child's eye. Better luck next time.

D & D Live Session #6

In this session there are only 2 other players and we are locked in combat for over 40min against a band of goblins.  I begin to compare the combat to nethack and realize how different the game play is.  I'm told several times that this is not nethack.  If I was confronted with a similar situation I would run to another level, get better armor and a better weapon then return to kill them all.   After killing most of the goblins I would like to loot, and am asked if I'm a "murder hobo." I actually think nethack may revolve around killing others and looting them.  That in addition to stealing items from ghosts.   Finally I asks if we are going to take food from their kitchen? They laugh and ask why? I don't want to die of starvation. Well that's not going to happen in this game.  One of the most advanced players set it up so our party has unlimited food sources.  So now I realize this is not nethack and I have to spend some time lear...

Mystical Meats

Image
In honor ๐ŸŽ– of Kalina's run in with the wild boar, and subsequent killing of said ๐Ÿ— I decided to try Mystical Meats ๐Ÿ–. In 2024 Mytical Meats teamed up with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to create a Dungeon & Dragons Adventurer’s Rations line of jerky.  Choose from these classic D&D characters I decided to try the mythical animals line which includes unicorn ๐Ÿฆ„ and kraken ๐Ÿ™.  The group concencus was they are good but not amazing, a solid 7 out of 10. I tried the Loch Ness Monster made of beef and buffalo, which was mildly spicy and flavorful. Next I tried the Basilisk made of alligator, beef and pork which I liked a lot better. This was spicier, with some heat and a more complex flavor pallet.

D&D Live Session #5

Bringing water, red bulls, and snacks definitely helped me get through this session. Your in person rations are just as important as your in game rations. At least I wasn't falling asleep and dehydrated at the end of this session.  Our party decided to go back to visit a town we saw while traveling to the sunken city.  Our boss gave us gifts/ bribes to offer the local townspeople.  We were sidetracked even before reaching the town, we stop to look at a glimmer of a battle taking place between ghosts armies. Before we could decide what to do, a band of goblins descend upon us. The leader is holding a wild boar by a rope. Kalina decides to attack a goblin first since she believes the board is harmless.  I combine my longbow, hunters mark and dreadful strike to kill a goblin.  I'm learning how to combine attacks, referencing the player's handbook helps.  Unfortunately after a couple rounds of attacks, the boar breaks free and attacks Kalina.  My ar...

D&D Live Session#4

Image
I attended my #4 session of D&D live.  This session we were recruited by "Steve" to retrieve a bird statue from the sunken city.  We were also looking for a bird lady corpse and other sunken treasure.  What's the saying 3 birds, 1 stone? It was an easy sell, everyone from the previous mission signed on with a plus one.  Kalina took a break from her newly found freedom (her rumspringa). She is busy bartering and making deals for her upcoming trip to the dooms day vault.  She has been busy gathering seeds, researching flowers, plants, trees, teaching herself botanical watercolor.  She also has taken a liking to fine jewelry and metal smithing. She is weary of her knowledge of the great celebrimbor and his part in the current state of the world.  Her jewelry must be kept secret, but that's how all great downfalls start with secrets that turn into lies.  I'm a little confused as to how last time it took us hours to travel to the sunken city ...

Postage Stamps

Image
The USPS is celebrating 50 years of Dungeon and Dragons with its limited release stamps.  They are .78 cents each, but they are forever stamps, so they will cover the cost of basic postage.  There are 10 different designs. Why would you use them to send letters, when you can frame them?

D&D Live Session #3

I attended my 3rd in person session of D&D. In this session we are traveling by giant bird ๐Ÿฆ to a sunken city. All calculations for weight have been accounted for, we leave our heavy armor behind. Our "skilled in spells" dwarf has promised us we will not go hungry once he casts his spell so we don't need food or ration.  Our swamp lady uses her basket ๐Ÿงบ weaving skills to create a giant saddle basket. We load up and make our first leg (wing ๐Ÿ”)of the journey and stop at the bridge.  We have a map, created by my fellow members and the DM points out areas our group has been previously. At the bridge we encounter fellow employees/soldiers. Apparently I work for a company and someone called Steve. This is news to me, I was just an Elf who left home on a scouting mission to find any potential threats and form allies. When I joined this group they forgot to mention their employer.  I have not received my paycheck so I'm unsure of my pay, but I continue on because my...
